Nara abounds in old temples, and Todai-ji Temple, Toshodaiji Temple, Horyu-ji Temple, etc. are all visit-worthy for their historical atmosphere and relics. Among them, Todai-ji Temple is the world’s largest wooden architecture and preserves the world’s biggest bronze statue of Buddha. Kasuga Taisha Shrine is a great place to experience the festival atmosphere of New Year. Wakakusa Yamayaki may be the grandest festival in late January, as the grass burning ceremony is accompanied with firework show on Mount Wakakusa.
