Early to middle April is the peak period for cherry blossom viewing in Nara, while Nara Park, Heijo Palace Ruins, and Mount Wakakusa are the best spots. If you don’t mind going a little farther away from downtown, Asuka Village and Mount Yoshino are also good destinations with alluring cherry blossoms. Nara Park is known for over a thousand deer, too, where you can feed the lovely fawns and enjoy memorable parent-kid time. On the 2nd weekend in April, Saidai-ji Temple hosts Oh-chamori ceremony, an old tradition to drink tea using an oversized cup.
 

Tips

1. For visitors having hay fever, please take a mask and anti-allergic drugs if necessary before going to appreciating cherry blossoms. 

2. More than 1,000 deer live in Nara Park. When you get there, you may buy some deer senbei to feed the cute creatures. However, if you take other food for your own, please wrap them well to avoid unwanted attention from deer.
