Swiss International Air Lines
Swiss International Air Lines has undergone a tortuous path. Its predecessor is Swissair which was set up in 1931 as a national airline. Swiss International Air Lines was once one of the most renowned Air Lines around the world for its hospitality, punctuality and high-quality services. However, due to a strategic decision to acquire shares in other airlines and the impact of 9.11 on the airline industry in 2001, Swissair was debt-ridden and had to stop all its operations. With the help of the Swiss government, banks and private enterprise, Swissair, restructured as Swiss Air Lines, was able to maintain operation for a short period, but that could not prevent it from bankruptcy. In March 2005, it was purchased by Lufthansa - a famous German airline company, and started a new chapter. Fortunately, it has been allowed to operate independently under the name of Swiss International Air Lines and it hopes to perform another miracle as it had done in its glorious history.
