British Airways

In April 1974, British Overseas Airways Corporation, British European Airways and a number of related companies were officially merged, declaring the birth of British Airways. In the past years, the airlines has been taking the lead in many aspects among its craft brothers. It is the largest international carrier in Britain. It ranks first in the number of Boeing and Concorde airplanes, and the number of available passenger seats. Moreover, it has a larger traffic volume than any other airways throughout the world.

British Airways has a large fleet. It owns 11 Airbus A321, 26 Airbus A320, 33 Airbus A319s, five Boeing 737-300s, 19 Boeing 737-400s, nine Boeing 737-500s, 57 Boeing 747-400s, 11 Boeing 757-200s, 21 Boeing 767-300ERs and 42 Boeing 777-200s.
 

Flights to/from China:

In 1936, British Airways opened the route to Hongkong. In 1980, it has offered the flights between London and Beijing. In September 2004, it opened British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) to Shanghai. On June 1st, Shanghai became the third city to be open to air traffic by British Airways in China after Hongkong and Beijing.

Brief History:

In 1924, the predecessor of British Airways which was responsible for the air routes to the east of England was established. In 1974, British Airways was formed by the incorporation of British Overseas Airways, British European Airways and other affiliated companies. In 1976, British Airways introduced the Concorde which was the fastest civilian airliner at that time. In 1987, it began to be privatized. In 1999, it joined the One World aviation alliance with American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airlines, Qantas Airways and the former Canadian Airlines.
