Lufthansa

As one of the leading airlines in the world and the biggest airline in Germany, the history of Lufthansa can be traced back to 1926 when it started business in Berlin as 'Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschet'. Its services were stopped during the Second World War and were resumed in 1955. Now, with over 400 auxiliary bodies around the world, Lufthansa operates in six areas, including passenger service, cargo service, airplane maintenance, aviation food, tourism and IT services. In 1997, it announced the founding of "Star Alliance" with United Airlines, Air Canada, SAS and Thai Airways International. Also, it signed an agreement on co-operation with many international airlines including United Airlines, Thai Airways, North-Euro Airline, Varig Brazilian Airlines and South African Airways.

The headquartersof Lufthansa is located in Cologne. The Frankfurt International Airport and Munich International Airport are its transport hubs.

Up to 2006, it had carried over 53 million passengers. Aircraft on its international routes include Air Bus A319s, A320s, A321s, A300s and Boeing 737s.
 

Flights to/from China:

In its birth year of 1926, a flight expedition landed in China, which marked Lufthansa's first operation to China. On Feb.21th, Lufthansa made an agreement with Chinese government to build Eurasian airline with Sino-German joint ventures. Lufthansa is one of the biggest European Airlines in China. It has the most frequent direct flights on the course between China and Europe. Destinations in China now include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
