As one of the largest airlines in America, Northwest Airlines was founded 1926 and merged into Delta Air Lines in 2010. At the beginning, it once operated mail transportation between St. Paul and Chicago with two rented airplanes. Its passenger service followed closely the next year. In 1947, it started America-Asia routes and in 1986, it purchased Republic Airlines of America. In the following years, it created alliances with a variety of world-famous companies, making it possible to extend its network, and provide higher-qualified and more favorable services to millions of passengers worldwide.

Today, Northwest Airlines owns a fleet of 500 aircraft, including Boeing 747s, Boeing 757s, Air Bus A319s, Air Bus A320s and DC-9s and DC-10s by McDonnell Douglas. Together with its allied airlines, it supplies over 1,500 scheduled flights to more than 750 destinations in the world every day. In addition, as one of the largest cargo airlines in the world, it possesses no less than 14 Boeing B747s for cargo transportation. Destinations in China include Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
