Alitalia

Opened in 1946, Alitalia Airlines belongs to Alitalia Group. It is the biggest airlines in Italy. Headquartered at Rome, Alitalia is the national airline of Italy. It was established on 16 September in 1946 with the name Alitalia-Aerolinee Internazionali Italiane. Eleven years later, after merging with LAI-Linee Aeree Italiane, its name changed to its present - Alitalia-Linee Aeree Italiane. In 2001, Alitalia Airlines became a member of Skyteam Alliance, and went public in the same year, with Italian government as its biggest shareholder.

Due to improper management and some external reasons, Alitalia has been losing money in recent years and is presently undergoing privatization. We are looking forward to its new development.

Taking Milan Malpensa Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport as its hubs, Alitalia's aircrafts now fly to Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Middle East. Since 2004, Alitalia Group in restructuring has went into operation by two departments with AZ Fly operated the flights business and AZ Servizi took over the ground handling.
 Up to the end of May 2008, Alitalia's fleet included 12 Airbus A319s, 15 Airbus A320s, 23 Airbus A321s, 10 Boeing 767-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200 ERs, 10 ATR 72s, 14 ERJ145s, 1706 Embraers and 8273 MDs. The Embraer ERJ-145 and Embraer ERJ-170 are mainly used by Alitalia Express.
 A direct flight between Shanghai and Milan was opened in December 2004, which is the first flight operated by Alitalia to China. Now, you can also reach Beijing with Alitalia and its partners.
