Frequent rainfall makes August not so favorable for too much outdoor exploring. However, there are some indoor places worth visiting. Vietnam’s Revolution Day just falls on August 19 and travelers are recommended to visit the Museum of Revolution to trace the revolutionary period. Another two traditional festivals in August worth your attention are Vu Lan Festival, also known as Wandering Souls Day, and Qixi Festival which is inspired by Chinese culture. Vu Lan Festival is the day to commemorate the spirits and the deaths. On that day, a lot of locals will go to Tran Quoc pagoda and Quan Su pagoda to commemorate and pray for their families. Qixi Festival is mainly held for lovers. Travelers can visit the Ha Pagoda in Cau Giay District, which is a famous love pagoda for people to pray for love.
