Taxi Types

There are official and unofficial taxis on the road of Ulaanbaatar. The official taxis are noticeably labelled on the exterior parts or inside the car, which is easy to identify. The unofficial taxis are one of the local trawling for passengers, which are easily accessible for travellers. Taxi Fare

In Ulaanbaatar, the taxi fare is not expensive. In the city, a taxi fare is MNT 800 (USD 0.3) to MNT 1,000 (USD0.35) per km. All official taxis have fare meters that make billing and calculations precise. It is suggested to visitors that always reset the meter to zero before starting your ride. A taxi should be hired as the per-kilometre rate, which helps to get some idea of the route as well as the price. You cannot negotiate the price while hiring the official taxi.
 
Private Ulaanbaatar taxi or cab don’t have fare meters which can make you pay more bills than official taxis. You can negotiate the private taxis when you are planning to hire them for a long-distance trip. ♦ Use official taxis at night time to avoid any inconvenience and any unexpected problem.
