It is one of the largest Buddhist monasteries, which were saved from the regimental destruction during the 1937.  The lovely sculpture on the temple compound, and the serene background makes this place an enticing tourist destination.

3. Bayan Zag (Bain-Dzak)

Part of the extremely dangerous desert area, the Bayan Zag is often associated with paleontology and excavation. A prime location for dinosaur fossils, the place is often regarded as the Flaming Cliffs due to its red and ochre sandstone cliffs during the sunset.

To enter the park, you will need permits from the border and park authority. The borders permits can be collected from the government offices at Ölgii.

The Erdene Zuu Monastery, close to Kharkhorin (Övörkhangai Province), is one of the oldest surviving Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia. It’s attempted to create an elaborate temple complex consisting of 108 stupas (resembling the Buddhist rosary comprising of 108 beads).
 
Over the period of time, most of the structures were damaged with only a handful of them still standing intact. The temple complexes are filled with ancient statues and murals depicting the life of Buddha.
