As the Chinese New Year Holiday (February 7-13) ended, people are now on the way back to work and school. Since February 12, the Spring Festival Travel Rush hits another peak.
According to China Railway Corporation, nearly 9 million train passengers were sent on February 12 and 7.9 million on February 11. The train passenger flow reaches an all-time high on February 13, with a number of 10.33 million, increased by 9.1% over the same period in last year. This is the first time that the train passengers on a single day have gone beyond 10 million.
Since the travel rush will last till March 3, it’s predicted that the public transport system will keep busy for nearly 20 more days. Airports, trains stations and bus stations all take various steps to facilitate passengers, including setting up temporary waiting rooms, arranging volunteers to guide passengers, and opening green passages for passengers who are in emergencies.

During the past Golden Week celebrating 2016 Chinese New Year, China’s tourism market saw an unprecedented boost. According to the latest report, 302 million tourists were received during the seven days, an increase of 15.6% compared with last year. The total tourism revenue amounted to CNY 365.1 billion, increased by 16.3% on a comparable basis. In addition, with the eased visa policies, more international flights and improved economic status, the outbound tourism also saw a boom during this holiday. About 6 million visitors have travelled to foreign countries, among which Thailand and Japan are the most popular.
