When is the best time to travel to China?

It is indeed a big concern for most travelers. In simple terms, late March to May in spring, September and October in autumn are relatively pleasant to visit most tourist cities in the country. Some highlight cities, such as Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Shanghai, Chengdu and Hong Kong are top travel destinations for first-time visitors at anytime of the year. Those who travel in the low season between December and February are rewarded with lower prices and a hassle free sightseeing experience. Also, it is advisable to avoid the Chinese Golden Week Holiday from Oct 1st to Oct 7th as there are crowds of visitors everywhere.

What are the major cities to enter China?

Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou are all busy global transport hubs, and they have frequent flights linking almost all parts of the world. At the same time, these cities have long been favored travel destinations boasting prominent attractions and a relaxing atmosphere. Besides, with large numbers of visitors coming to Xian, Chengdu and Kunming every year, the three cities also operate increasing numbers of international flights to the major cities in the world.

How many days are needed for a trip to China?

For first time travelers, we usually suggest a two weeks China tour itinerary including the destinations like Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Guilin, and Yangtze Cruise. It gives you an overall impression of the country in terms of history, culture, development and natural scenery. If you can only do a one week tour, it is the best to take the classic one week itinerary Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. For travelers who would like to have an in-depth exploration, we also prepare 3 weeks and 4 weeks more private China tour itineraries for you to choose from. Anytime you are planning a trip to China, we are ready to customize the best itinerary for you.

How much does it cost for a trip to China?

It depends on various conditions, such as how many days you will stay, which cities you will travel to, what levels of hotels you will choose to stay, and many others. Let's take an example, if you take our 11 days small group package to Beijing, Xian, Guilin and Shanghai, it costs around US$1400 per person during peak season, while if you take a private guided package with the similar itinerary, it costs about US$1800 per person based on 2 to 3 travelers as a private group. It is hard to tell how much money is needed for a trip briefly, but our experienced travel consultants are more than happy to tailor a trip to your budget.

Will you arrange the visa for us? How far in advance should I have a visa?

Sorry, we do not arrange the visa, but we are happy to offer a free invitation letter to assist our clients in obtaining the visa.

You should apply for the tourist visas (L) from your local Chinese Embassy or Consulate, and the process takes about 5 to 7 working days. It is recommended that you apply for it one or two months before your planned travel date. If you apply too early, the visa may expire before your trip is completed. The validity of a single-entry visa is normally 3 months.

How far ahead of time do I need to book with you?

Generally, it is advisable to book your holiday at least 30 days prior to the departure date. However, if you are going to travel during the peak season, we suggest you book it the earlier the better to guarantee the hotel and flight reservations as well as our excellent travel guides. In this way, you will have plenty of time to prepare for a wonderful trip. What's more, we also offer early bird discount from time to time for both private and group tours.

How do I contact you in case of emergency during the trip?

We usually provide clients with all necessary contact information prior to the trip. You can call either your local guide or travel consultant whenever you encounter any emergency or need help. Our professional travel consultants are available 7 days a week, from 08:00 to 17:30 in the office and also we have 24/7 mobile services.

Do you offer discount for children?

Yes, our price for children is quoted based on their ages. A child under 12 years old receives a good discount off the regular adult fare on the land service charge and internal airfares. Those who are aged 12 and over will be charged as adults.

For infants under 2 years old, only the infant airfares are needed. However, if your trip involves a Yangtze River cruise, there is an extra percentage of the cruise fee required for the baby.

Is there any specific vaccination for traveling to China?

At present, China has no serious infectious diseases, so no specific vaccination is required. However, the yellow fever vaccine is mandatory for visitors coming from yellow fever prevalent area. These people need to present a valid vaccine certificate of yellow fever upon entry as well as their other travel documents.

Usually what time would your daily sightseeing start and end? Do I have free time to go shopping?

It starts at about 08:30 and ends at around 18:00 when there are full day sightseeing activities arranged. The schedule may change slightly with the seasons. Sometimes there are evening shows included, in which case we finish the day at around 21:00. You can do some shopping on your own after the normal daily sightseeing. Alternatively, you may include a free day and go on a shopping spree during your private trip if you want.

Can I use my mobile phone in China? And can I visit sites such as Facebook and Twitter?

You can use your mobile phone as long as it is unlocked. If your phone is locked, you can call your carrier to ask for unlocking it. Since the international roaming rates are very expensive, we suggest you buy a prepaid local SIM card. You can easily buy a SIM card as they all have lots of branches and outlets in cities and even airports. Our guide is happy to help you with it.

Sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc. are not available in China. If it's convenient, we suggest you download WeChat - a very popular free mobile messaging & calling app. It is a great way for you to connect with locals during your trip.

I am interested in meeting and interacting with local people, do I have a chance to make it with your arrangement?

Yes, there are plenty of opportunities for you to meet and interact with local Chinese people in different cities. You will experience authentic old Beijing life during the exciting Hutong travel. When visiting the Temple of Heaven, you can see and even become involved personally with the Beijingers to do some leisure activities such as playing chess, flying kites, singing, dancing etc. In addition to learning home-cooked dishes, a local family visit in Xian also gives you a real glimpse into typical Chinese way of life. You get to see locals going about their daily lives while cruising down the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo, and exploring the countryside of Yangshuo. It is indeed an interesting experience to have a stop at the 'Marriage Market' in Shanghai People's Square Park. Examples of such activities are too many to list.

Our private tours are extremely flexible, and to tailor-make a trip that will be to your heart's content is something we are really good at.
