Travel Warning from TCG: Cancel or Change Your Tours to Xinjiang

Travel China Guide severely condemns the recent serial terrorist attacks happened in Xinjiang! Due to the increasing tension, we now give travel warning to visitors: cancel or change your recent plans to Urumqi and other regions in Xinjiang.

39 innocent civilians were killed and 94 more were injured in the deadly bomb in Urumqi, Xinjiang on May 22. We severely condemn the terrorists and show deep condolence and sympathy to the victims and their families. Although stepped up security measures have been taken after the incident, it is still risky to travel to the region

If you are making your plans, we suggest that you change your destinations to other cities which also have profound Silk Road culture and beautiful Chinese western desert amorous feelings, such as Xian, Lanzhou, Xiahe, Dunhuang, Zhangye, and Wuwei.

If you are in Xinjiang now, you should avoid going to crowded places or going out alone. Stay with your guides and do not hesitate to call the police if you encounter any accident.

On Thursday morning, May 22nd, two SUVs slammed into people and threw explosives to the crowds in an open-air market in Urumqi, Xijiang. 39 people were dead and 91 were wounded in the incident. Most of the victims are housewives and seniors who get up early to buy vegetables for their families. Four attackers were killed in the blast, and the fifth one was arrested later.

One Innocent civilian was killed and 79 were wounded the in the blast and knife attack at Urumqi South Railway Station, on April 30, 2014. Two attackers, influenced by extremism, were killed in the explosion.

On March 1, 2014, eight Uygur separatists rushed into crowds and attacked people with knives at Kunming Railway Station, Yunnan. 29 people were killed and 143 were wounded in the horrible incident. Four rioters were shot dead then and there by policemen, and the rest four attackers were later arrested.

Two visitors were killed and many more visitors and policemen were injured in the terrorist attack in Beijing, October 28, 2013. A jeep crashed against the Golden Water Bridge in front of Tiananmen Tower and burst into flames. Three terrorists in the vehicle were dead.
