Siem Reap Weather in April

Siem Reap weather in April is rather hot. It doesn’t rain much and the air is a little dry. April’s temperature generally averages at 31℃ (88℉) and the average high temperature can reach over 35℃ (95℉). Even at night, it stays at a relatively high level with the average lowest point at 27℃ (81℉). As April is end of the dry season and the rainy season is around the corner, both humidity and precipitation increase a bit compared to those in March. This month, it may receive a total rainfall of 55mm, accumulating from 9 rainy days and the humidity is 60%. 

Under such baking hot weather, it is not so favorable to visit Siem Reap in April and the off-travel season just starts. Those who don’t mind the scorching heat could enjoy more personal spaces in the Angkor Wat Temple complex. In addition, the travel costs including flights and hotels fall significantly. 

 

If visiting Siem Reap in April, the recommended clothes to wear are some light cotton summer outfits like short-sleeve shirts, shorts, and skirts. You should note that all the tops should cover your shoulders when visiting temples and the shorts or skirts should below the knees. Breathable and comfortable shoes are also indispensable for your Siem Reap trip. Of course, don’t forget to wear sunglasses and sun-blocking hats as the sun rays are extremely strong.

The world-famous Angkor Wat Temple complex must be included in your itinerary if you are visiting Siem Reap in April. However, it is suggested to start off in the early morning when you can not only enjoy the spectacular sunrise view but also avoid the scorching sunny weather. If you feel it not enough to explore the temple just on the ground, then try overlooking Angkor Wat from above. Taking a helicopter to enjoy a panoramic view of the giant temple complex and the surrounding areas would be awesome. Angkor Balloon is another highlight of your Angkor Wat trip.
