In the morning, you will head to Yining and stay overnight at a downtown local hotel. On the way, enjoy the stunning scenery of the Sayram Lake. Sayram means 'blessing' in Kazak language. As a coldwater lake, you will feel chilly cold when washing hands in the lake even in summer time. The lake itself is very calm and the water is rather blue.

The tour today will begin with a visit to Yili River Bridge, the longest highway bridge in Xinjiang. Standing on the bridge, you could experience the local life style by watching the local people entertaining themselves in the riverside park. After that, you will head for Nalati Grassland to appreciate the graceful landscape. The interlacing rivers, flat river beds, high peaks, dense forest, vast grassland dotted with colorful flowers and local Kazak ethnic flavor have made the land a famous place for tourism and sightseeing. The excursion today will take you to Bayanbulak Grassland and the Swan Lake via the huge Tianshan Mountain, which traverses the middle part of Xinjiang. As China's second largest grassland, Bayanbulak Grassland boasts luxuriant grass and herds of sheep and cows. With mountains encircling, lakes dotting on and rivers flowing by, this vast grassland is also a beautiful place for sightseeing. The Swan Lake is among the lakes dotting on this grassland. It is named so because many water birds, especially swans come here to give birth and live every year due to its rich water grass, cool climate and plenty rainfall.

Your tour today will extend to Kuqa. First, you will travel there by car and then explore the Dragon Lake and the Mystic Grand Canyon of Tianshan Mountains. The Dragon Lake is encircled by mountains and covered by white snow all year round. Below the mountains, you will see another vibrant view of green plants and grass, free and happy cows and sheep as well as the beautiful herdsmen's tents. The Mystic Grand Canyon of Tianshan Mountains is the result of wind and rain erosion on the russet rocks over millions of years.

Today, you will visit the Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves, the Ruins of Subash Ancient Buddha Temple and Kuqa local Bazaar. The Kizil Thousand-Buddha Caves are corridor of murals surpassing other existing caves in China in its abundance in content, quantity and long duration. The Caves are significant in Buddhism research as well as the history study of Kuqa. The Ruins of Subash Ancient Buddha Temple is the discovered largest temple ruins in Xinjiang, which is divided into two parts by Kuqa River. The remains and archaeological discoveries on the site provide evidences to the years of change, the stories of Buddhism and the development of civilization in this land. A visit to Kuqa local Bazaar will help you know more about the local customs and life styles.

Your first travel destination today is the Ancient City of Jiaohe. It is one of the world's architectural wonders and the existing largest, oldest and best-preserved earthen city in the world. Then, continue the tour to the Karez Well, a kind of irrigation system made up of vertical wells, underground canals, above-ground canals and small reservoirs. In addition to providing water for the daily use and irrigation, the Karez Well also serves as the naturally air-conditioned places to escape from the scorching weather. The last stop today is Sugong Pagoda, a famous Muslim pagoda with a unique appearance.

Today's private visit will cover the Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves and the Ancient City of Gaochang. The Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves was once the royal temple of Huihu (the predecessor of today's Uigur) State. From the murals preserved, you could learn about the Buddhism culture in the region, the lives of the King and Queen and people from all walks of life at that time; the inscriptions left are also authentic reference for historic research. Located at the foot of the Flaming Hill, the Ancient City of Gaochang is composed of three sections: an outer city, an inner city and a palace city. While driving back to Urumqi for a one-night stay, you will pass by the Flaming Hill, reputed as the hottest place in China.
