After 3 years’ strict restrictions due to covid-19 pandemic, China will reopen its borders on January 8, 2023. Welcome, everybody!
Upon arrival, neither quarantine, travel health certificate, nor nucleic acid test will be required. One can go to their own booked hotels directly after clearing the customs and travel freely in China.
According to the latest policy, a nucleic acid test within 48 hours before departure is still required. If the test result is positive, please make the trip another time.
As before, a visa will be required to enter China from foreigners. But currently, only visas for business purposes, attending conferences and fairs, working or studying in China, family reunion, and visiting relatives are available.
The 10-year multiple-entry visas issued before March 28th, 2020 are still invalid, no matter when they expire. If you are in a hurry to come to China, apply for a new one. It is still unknown when they will turn valid again, but it should not be far away.
The tourist visa is not available yet. But hopefully, we won’t wait for long.
The 24/ 72/ 144 – hour visa free transit will be allowed the same day since January 8, 2023.
