5G Leads New Trend of China’s Tourism Industry

5G is the 5th generation mobile networks and wireless systems, which means faster speeds, faster connections and faster access to the network. The 5G is not only the lifeblood of the new economy but also have a great influence on China’s tourism industry.

For instance, 5G+VR and 5G+AR help travelers have a more immersive experience on the scenes of attractions; 5G+AI provides more comprehensive services including guidance, introduction and consultation.
 

Which scenic areas have deployed or will deploy 5G devices?

 

2019 Beijing Expo

The 2019 International Horticultural Expo held in Beijing since April 29 have deployed a lot of 5G devices and achieved a full coverage of 5G network within all 11 exhibition halls. This proved to meet the demand of more than 100, 000 tourists’ accessing to the internet at the same time. Besides that, there are several 5G Exhibitions including various items such as 5G games, 5G holographic communication, 5G networks UAV. It is really a good place to experience the 5G applications from different perspectives. Yuntai Mountain in Jiaozuo is the first 5G scenic area in Henan Province and it set the 5G base station in February 2019. Tourists can use 4G mobile phones to connect the WiFi converted by 5G network for online ticket purchasing, tour guide and other network services. A series applications of 5G will be built gradually in the scenic area. On March 15, 2019, the managers of Forbidden City signed an agreement with Huawei on 5G construction to promote the digitization and informatization of the museum. Forbidden City has become the most visited museum since 2018 and 5G technology will help more people who cannot go to Beijing to appreciate the ancient buildings and relics at home. What’s more, it will accumulate a lot of digital resources about ancient relics and make a big difference on historical preservation.     The Shenzhen Window of the World is a theme park full of replicas of the world's wonders and historical heritages. The park is committed to build a large cultural amusement park with a full coverage of 5G networks. 5G+VR, 5G+AR, and 5G+AI services will also be set soon.
