Unforgettable Kangding Outing

Upon your arrival in Chengdu, get to the local hostel (You may refer to Chengdu 02 for the recommended hotel accommodations) and have a good rest. Take the chance to taste the local spicy hotpot.

The second day, take the direct coach from Chengdu to Kangding in the Xin'nanmen Bus Station(028 - 85433609). (Please refer to Sichuan - Chengdu 04 for details ) . The famous mountain will show before your eyes, which is very grand with the altitude of 7556m. Upon your arrival in Luding, you can take a coach to the Moxi Town through and it will take you about 2 hours, which is famous for its famous Hailuogou National Glacier Park. Stay overnight at the Moxi Town. The whole journey today is about 300 kilometers, and it will take you about nine hour.

The third day will be touring aroung the famous Hailuogou Valley, which is known for its incomparable glacier, which is the longest glacier 14.7kms in the Gongga Mountain Range. The admission fee is RMB75.00 per person, RMB60 for taking the sightseeing car, RMB150.00 for the cable car, and RMB 65.00 net if you want to take a hotspring bath. Hailuogou Valleyis also said to be the lowest glacier on earth. Take the sightseeing car to No. 3 camp site to enjoy the Golden Mountain shining under the sunshine. Afterwards, hike through the Virgin Forests to the sightseeing platform to view the Golden and Silver Snow Mountains, Ice Tower Forest, Grand Glacier Cascade, etc. Leave for No.2 camp site after lunch, where you can have a hot spring bath. Return to Moxi Town and stay there overnight.

The fourth day, rise early to transfer to Lotus Sea, which located in the Pusharong Town of Kangding county. The Lotus Sea is named for the lotus living there and it is also named Hehe Sea, which belongs to the High Mt. fresh water lake, with the area of 33 hektares. Surrounded by the Snow Mountain, Stone forest and virgin forests, the lotus sea deserves your time spending there. The way to go there is a little complicated. Take the coach or mini-bus on Kang-jiu Road, and get down at the Shangde County, then take the mini-bus towards south for 60 kms to get to the ranch in the Pusharong County. After you get the ranch, you can rent a horse to get to the Lotus Sea for another 20 kms. If you want to stay in the camp, you need to find a place in the grassland, which is from 3 or 5 kms from the Lotus Sea.

The following day, head back to Chengdu. En route, stop at Luding,the town noted for Long March.Walking tour of Luding Suspension Bridge ,an old original site of world famous Long March ,where the battle happened between the Red Army and Kuomingtang Army on May 26 - 30, 1935.The next stop will be Kangding County, upon your arrival, you can visit the local famous Horse -racing Hill, which was called Paoma Hill locally. Since there is a horse racing in every Apr. 08 according to the Lunar Calendar, the Hill got its special name. Visit the High Tower with different architectural styles, including some masterpieces. Try to have a bath in the hotspring. Stay overnight in Kangding.

The sixth morning, you can take a visit to the Well, which is called Shuijingzi in Tibetan, located at the foot of the famous Horse-racing Hill, and the water sourced from the Five-color sea. The water is very cool during the hot weather and will keep warm in the cold season, which is very curious. It is said that it contains many kinds of useful mineral for human body, and got the praise for the name of "elixir water". Take the chance to see the famous Guoda Mountain, located in the northeast of Lucheng Town in Kangding county, and its name comes from the person in the famous Chinese novel- Guoda from "Three Kingdoms Legend". According to the local people, the Guoda Hill is also called for the Weather forecaster of the Kangding County, since it is very clear for local people to forsee the weather according to the clouds above the peak of the mountain. Stay overnight in Kangding.

The seventh day, return to Chengdu (refer to Chengdu 02 for transportation means)and board your homeward flight according to your personal plan if time permits. Your hiking tour ends here.
