01: 3-Day Hiking Tour of Shenzhen
Take subway line 2, line 3 or line 4 to the Lotus Hill Park to start this hiking tour. In the park, you can pay your respects to the statue of Mr. Deng Xiaoping, the proposer of the Reform and Opening up Policy, which has advanced the economical development of Shenzhen. Standing on the top of the hill, you can overlook the scenery of the city center and feel the modern charm of this special economic zone. After that, take a taxi to the Chung Ying Street which is one of the eight sites in the city that worth taking in. Strolling along the street, you can experience the humanistic and historical sight of the unique 'one street, two systems'. Then, get on the bus no.68 to the Minsk World, the first military theme park in the world, which is based on a real aircraft carrier. In the morning, head for the Diwang Mansion and go to the Meridian View Center on the 69th floor to overlook the harbor scenery and have a better understanding of the one-hundred-year history of the city via exhibitions. After that, you can take a walk in the central district, which is the location of the Civic Center, Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, concert hall, children's palace, and central book store. Tired of seeing modern buildings, you can take subway Shekou Line to Shenzhen Bay Park to experience the ecological beauty of this developed city. On the third day, take Waterlands Resort Special Tourist Bus No.2 to reach the resort in the morning. Waterlands Resort is a wetland park and you can take lunch at a local villager's house at noon. You are suggested to choose Shenzhen Safari Park as your next hiking destination. It is the first free-range wildlife zoo in China, where you can see rare wildlife, such as giant pandas, south China tigers, and golden monkeys. To get there, you should get on the bus no.337 and transfer to bus no.b796 at Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center Station. At last, relax yourself at the Sea World in Shekou. Bus no.226 can take you there from the zoo. Here berths a luxury cruise ship and its interior has been rebuilt as a restaurant. The ship is decorated with colorful lights. At night, it will turn into a splendid crystal ship-like palace. You can experience the colorful nightlife in the nearby bar street and your hiking tour would end at this shining district.
02: 3-Day Hiking Trail from Shenzhen to Meizhou
Take a coach at Shenzhen Tongle Bus Station to Fengshun, Meizhou. Upon arrival, we suggest you hire a taxi to the Qianjiang Hot Spring Resort to get totally relaxed by enjoying the open-air hot spring bath and spend one night there.
On the second day, charter a minibus to Longguizhai Waterfall. The waterfall roars from the 410 feet (125 meters) high cliff to the pool at its foot with big splashes. After viewing such a wonderful scene, you may want to have a close contact with water. Keep driving, there is the Longjing River, 35 miles (56 kilometers) away, providing you an exciting drifting. The whole drift course is 6 miles (9.8 kilometers) long with a drop of 130 feet (40 meters). You will take an unpowered rubber yacht (2 pax/ yacht) for a drift. Then, head for Meizhou City to visit the former residence and memorial of Ye Jianying, a famous general who made great contributions to the foundation of the People's Republic of China. Continue to visit the Lingguang Temple which is among the four famous temples in Guangdong Province and the biggest tea garden, Yannanfei Tea Plantation Resort. The resort has centralized the essence of tea culture for 5,000 years and enjoys the reputation of 'bright pearl on the green field' and 'fictitious land of peace'. Stay at a local hotel.
Visit the special construction of Hakka, Weilong House, to start your third day's hiking trail. It is reputed as a wonder in China construction history. Three rows of connecting living rooms and a half-moon-shaped pond in the front form a circle encompassing the main halls, which were built to hold sacrifice, affair-discussion, and banquet. Then visit the Thousand Buddha Tower Temple. The ancient tower in the center of the temple was firstly built in 965, with 32 stone Buddha sculptures on its outer wall and more than 2,000 Buddha reliefs on the interior marble wall. The sculpture worshipped in the Thousand Buddha Palace is extremely gorgeous, with 20,000 gemstones decorated over the entire body. At last, you can do shopping at some local supermarkets for Hakka local specialties. Take a coach at Meizhou Bus Passenger Station to Shenzhen.
03: Shenzhen - Xiaomeisha - Mt. Maluan
In downtown area, you're advised to take bus no.103 to get to Xiaomeisha. After that, walking cross the Yanba Overpass and you will see Diecuihu Reservoir. Go to the reservoir's dam and walk along the edge of the reservoir on the right lane until the joining of the lane and the mountain.
Then, hike up along the Suxi Stream for about two hours and you could see the Shangmei Pavilion on the Mt. Maluan. On the mountain, you can go to the Maluan Cottage to see the Maluan Waterfalls and the Honghualing Reservoir.
