Qinghai Lake Discovery

On the first day upon arrival in Xining, the capital city of Qinghai Province, recruit the necessity for your cycling such as map, raincoat, medicine and the tools for repairing the bicycle in case it is broken half-way. If you do not bring your own bicycle, you also need to rent one at an Outdoor Club. Then you can cycle around Xining city and pay a visit to Dongguan Mosque located at East Dongguan Street and Qinghai Museum at the east of Xinning Square. Stay overnight in Xining.

On the second day, cycle 120 km from Xining to Xihai Town for about 10 hours. Riding from the Central Square, you will pass through Xiguan Street, Xinning Square, Kunlun Road. Pay a visit to the Chenguang Mosque and then continue cycling through Shuangzhai, Zhamalong, Daditan till reaching the famous Huangyuan Valley in Huangyuan County. Relax yourself and have lunch at a local restaurant to renew your energy after a 50 km's trudge. Then head for Haiyan County. En route, you may have a short tour to Zhazang Temple which is about 15 km from Huangyuan County. The destination Xihai Town is about 17 km in the frontage which is China's first base for the development of nuclear weapons At the foot of the hill in the north of Xihai Town presents the classical feature of the Jingyintan Prairie. You will be fascinated with the eyeful green grassland.

On the fourth and fifth day you will transit from the Bird Island to Heima River. It may be a tiring journey after the previous three days' hardship. Try to make it an easier. You can cycle 80 km from Gangcha County to Bird Island for about 5 hours. The road is quite flat and wide. Spare your time for the tour along Qinghai Lake. Then another 8 hours of 140 km cycling will take you to Heima River. You can accommodate at the Prairie Hotels or at a local resident's home. Relax yourself in the white sand beach and the far-flung Tiebujia Grassland.
