Lanzhou In-depth Tour
Itinerary : 8 Days of Lanzhou - Yongjing - Linxia - Xiahe - Hezuo - Amuquhu - Luqu - Gahai - Langmusi - Ruoergai - Chuanzhusi - Jiuzhaigou
Day 1 Lanzhou - Yongjing
Out of Lanzhou City, you could cycle 78 kilometers (48.5 miles) westward to Yongjing County today. Although the road is rolling somewhat, it is not so hard to finish this journey. Arriving in Yongjing, you could extend the journey about one kilometer (0.6 mile) to the county's southwest for visiting the nearby Liujiaxia Reservoir and then the Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves.
Day 2 Yongjing - Linxia
Set off from Yongjing, you could ride on the National Highway No.213 southward to Linxia City. This rolling journey is about 104 kilometers (65 miles) but it is easy for you to find a small town or village for a short rest in trips. Once entering Linxia, you will arrive in the assembling place of Hui people. In the afternoon, you could take a leisurely walk in the blooming Hongyuan Park which is located in the west suburban of Linxia. Totally different from the dry Lanzhou, you will find more and more oasis from Linxai.
Day 3 Linxia-Xiahe
Continuing to take the National Highway No.213, you will finish the 110-kilometer (68-mile) journey along the Daxia River. Today, you will have an opportunity to cycling along the vast grassland. Firstly, you will climb up to the 2170-meter (7,149-foot) high Tumenguan Pass which is 33 kilometers (20.5 miles) to the west of Linxia City. Afterwards, you will arrive in the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Going on cycling to Wanggeertang Town, you should turn to west here and take the provincial road to Xiahe County. After having a rest, you must have a visit to the breath taking Tibetan Labrang Monastery in Xiahe. Or, ride in the Sangke Prairie which is about 10 kilometers (6 miles) to the west of the county center.
Day 4 Xiahe - Hezuo - Amuquhu - Luqu
Firstly, you have to return to Wanggeertang to take the National Highway No.213 again and then get to Luqu, passing by Hezuo and Amuquhu. In this 100-kilometer (62-mile) excursion, you could take a rest in Hezuo, the capital of Gannan Prefecture. The 9-storied Monastery of Milarepa Buddha located in Hezuo is really worth a visit. Luqu, which has an altitude of 3,400 meters (11,154 feet), has so beautiful grassland that you could see the cattle and sheep grazing leisurely anywhere. This night you could stay in the county.
Day 5 Luqu - Gahai - Langmusi
Set off early in the morning, you could cycle about 50 kilometers (31 miles) southward to the Gaihai Lake which is surround by the grassland. En route, you will be attracted by the charming natural sceneries although you have to finish a 20-kilometer (12-mile) uphill road. Then, continue the journey to the southeast, you will arrive in Langmusi which is the border of Gansu and Sichuan Province. In the remaining time, you can cycle freely to explore the Langmusi Temple.
Day 6 Langmusi - Huahu - Ruoergai
This section of the Langmusi-Chuanzhusi Road is flat road so that you could get to the beautiful Huahu Lake esily after a 36-kilometer (22-mile) cycling. Then, another 44 kilometers (27 miles) will lead you to the Ruoergai County in Aba Tibetan & Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. The vast Ruoergai Prairie is a highlight on your way.
Day 7 Ruoergai - Chuanzhusi
Going on taking the Langmusi-Chuanzhusi Road, you will head to Chuanzhusi Town about 120 kilometers (75 miles) southward.
Day 8 Chuanzhusi - Jiuzhaigou
On the last day, you should cycle about 90 kilometers (56 miles) to the northeast Jiuzhaigou along the Min River. This section is the challenging rolling mountain road so you should be careful enough, especially in winter. Upon arrive in Jiuzhaigou, you could start a 2 or 3 days' trip here and then take a bus or flight to Chengdu.
