Gezhouba Dam was the first dam built on the Yangtze River and is an important cog in the Three Gorges Water Control Project. The dam is 2,560 meters long and seventy meters high. It consists of locks, electric power stations, discharge sluices, scouring sluices and a water-retaining structure.
