Pictures of Ancient City of Jiaohe

Visitors are going through the entrance to the Ancient City of Jiaohe.

The Ancient City of Jiaohe is 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of Turpan, covering an area of 220,000 square meters (over 54 acres). It is very distinct in its layout: having only two city gates, the South and East Gates; having no city walls since it is surrounded by cliffs on three sides; what is more, it was dug from earth and nearly no wood was used.
