Aksu is located in northwest of Tarim Basin, south foot of Tianshan Mountains. It was an important town on the Silk Road in ancient times. Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves have totally 236 caves, occupying an area of 10,000 square meters (about 2.5 acres). Inside the caves a great many mural paintings are on themes of Buddhism.
Kuqa, called Qiuci in ancient times, was one of the 36 states in Western Region. It was also an important town along the ancient Silk Road in the Han Dynasty (206BC - 220AD).
Located in the old city of Kuqa, Kuqa Mosque is the second largest mosque in Xinjiang, only inferior to Id Kah Mosque in Kashgar.
Kuche Royal Palace is located in downtown area of Kuqa. This palace was built with the architectural style of Han Culture and Islam.
Ruins of Subashi was the remains of Subashi Buddhist Monastery which existed between the Northern and Southern Dynasties (386-589) and the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
Tianshan Sacred Wood Garden in Wensu County has many kinds of trees including poplars, elms, willows, ash trees, walnuts trees and almonds. All trees are in varied shapes and sizes.
Yanquan Park in Wushi County consists of Yanzishan Hill, Nine Springs and a little garden.  It is a wonderful place for local people to relax themselves.
