The major religions in China today are Confucianism, Buddhism (including Tibetan Buddhist), Taoism, Islam and Christianity. They have great influence in people's life, culture, architecture, art and idea.
Confucianism & Confucius Temples
Confucianism has deeply rooted in Chinese people's life. It has been regarded as the official idea since the Han Dynasty. Many temples were built in memory of Confucius, this great philosopher, thinker and educationist.
Buddhism & Buddhist Temples
Buddhism, Christianism and Islam are three major religions in the world. Buddhist was officially introduced into China in 67 AD of the Eastern Han Dynasty, which influenced Chinese greatly. A great number of Buddhist temples were built under the imperial orders of emperors of different dynasties. There are four Buddhist Holy Mountains, Mt. Wutai in Shanxi, Mt. Emei in Sichuan Mt. Putuo in Zhejiang and Mt. Jiuhua in Anhui.

Tibetan Buddhism and its Temples & Monasteries
During the reign of Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century, Buddhism was introduced into Tibet from the Central Plain of China, Nepal and India, and gradually developed into Tibetan Buddhism with its unique characteristics. Lhasa is a sacred place of Tibetan Buddhism. Many large temples and monasteries are located in Lhasa.

Taoism & Taoist Temples
Taoism, the only indigenous religion in China, has a history of over 1,700 years. The Taoist temples and palaces are the place for Taoists to preach Taoism, hold religious ceremonies and live in. Most of them are situated in the famous mountains and big cities.
Islam & Mosque
Islam is one main religion in China. It was introduced there in the middle of 7th Century from Arabian countries. It played an important role in the cultural exchange between China and the Arabian world in history.
