The panda is the Chinese people's beloved animal. It is a treasure of China, but now it is endangered. For their better protection, a Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding was set up in northern suburbs of Chengdu.

Sanxingdui (Three-Star Piles) is a cultural relic of the ancient Shu (Sichuan). It is an important archeological discovery which changed the people's understanding of ancient history and culture.

Wuhou Temple (Memorial Temple of Marquis Wu) is built to honor Zhuge Liang, the Minister of the King of Shu in the Three Kingdoms Period (220 - 280).

Situated in the western suburbs of the city, Thatched Cottage of Du Fu is the former residence of the famous Tang Dynasty (618-907) poet, Du Fu.

Built in 256 BC, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System is the world's oldest among its kind and uniquely relied upon a levee rather than a dam to facilitate navigation. It was built across the Min River to solve the frequent flooding problems in the Chengdu Plain.

Jinsha Site Museum was built on the spot where the Jinsha site was found. It mainly consists of the relics hall and exhibition hall .
