Hanging Monastery Pictures

These wooden pillars are the only supports of the Hanging Monastery in Mount Hengshan, Datong.

Located in the Hunyuan County of Datong, the Hanging Monastery lies at the foot of Mount Hengshan. It hangs on the west cliff of the Jinxia Gorge which is over 50 meters above the ground, thus it is called so. Originally constructed in 491, the monastery was largely rebuilt and restored during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Attraction Intro: Hanging Monastery
