Yangzhou, situating on the northwestern of Nanjing, is a prefecture-level city in central Jiangsu Province. Lying on the northern bank of Yangtze River, it is also the joint of Yangtze River and Beijing and Hangzhou Grand Canal. It was the wealthiest city in China in Chinese history and  is now famous for the well preserved gardens in Suzhou style. Slender West Lake is one of the most attractive spots for the city. It is a national park of China. Although it is named after Hangzhou’s famous West Lake, it is just a part of a Tang Dynasty moat of old Yangzhou City. Now it has been changed to a Lake Garden.

Located on Shugang Hill, in the city's northwest, is DamingTemple. The temple was built in the Liu Song Dynasty (453-464).It has had many other names, such as Qiling Temple in the Sui Dynasty, and Xi Temple and Fajing Temple given by Emperor Qianlong. The present structure is a reconstruction dating from the 1930s.

Ge Garden, constructed in the 23rd year of Emperor Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, is located on Dongguan Street in the northern section of the City. It is a typical northern private garden with luxuriant bamboo, ponds and rock grottoes.

Situated in Guangling District, Dongguan Street is 1,122 meters long and about 5 meters wide. The prosperous street was not only a traffic artery, but also a center for business, handicrafts and religions in the past.

China Museum of Huaiyang Cuisine is the largest museum to focuses on Chinese cuisine. Completed in 2009, the museum covers 6,500 square meters to show the development of Huaiyang Cuisine.
