Fu Xi Temple Pictures

Tianshui Fu Xi Temple is the only temple with a statue of Fu Xi who was one of the three emperors in ancient times and was regarded the ancestor of the Chinese. Legend has it that Fu Xi married his sister Nuwa to save mankind after human beings were facing extinction after a flood. The temple was originally established in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) but collapsed in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The one we see today was re-established in the middle Ming.
  • The Fu Xi Temple in Tianshui is the only temple with his statue. Fu Xi and his wife created this system to explain the complicated relations between nature and human beings.
