After it was founded, the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) built the Great Wall to reinforce its reign. It was built almost incessantly during the nearly 300 years of the dynasty until its length reached more than 6,000 kilometers (3,728 miles). The Ming Great Wall surpassed the walls in any other dynasties in construction time, scale, defense system and completeness. Related Intro: Ming Dynasty Great Wall
