Pictures of Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven is a worthwhile visiting place in Beijing, built in 1420 A.D. during the Ming Dynasty.. It is enclosed by a horseshoe shaped wall that is nearly 6.5km (4 miles) long. The ceremonial halls feature the favored Chinese shapes – square for Earth and circular for Heaven. The design embodies tiered terraces to represent the supremacy of Heaven over the Earth, reflecting also ancient Chinese thought of "The heaven is round and the earth is square".
