Prince Gong’s Mansion is the most complete preserved royal residence that still exists today. Two of its owners are illustrious figures of the Qing Dynasty: one was Emperor Qianlong’s favorite courtier He Shen; the other was Prince Gong, also called Yi Xin, the younger brother of Emperor Tongzhi. The palace consists of the Mansion and the Garden. The palace represents half history of the Qing Dynasty and exemplifies the rich and splendid culture of Qing princes’ mansions.
