Jingshan Park Pictures

Jingshan Park is located to the north of the Forbidden City, on the central axis of old Beijing City. It was originally the imperial garden of the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, but now it is open to the public and becomes a exercising place for local citizens. In fact, Jingshan Hill is an artificial hill built during the Yongle Period (1403-1424) of Ming Dynasty. In 1644, the Emperor Chongzhen, the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty hanged himself on this hill when Li Zicheng led 400,000 peasant uprising troops to siege Beijing.
