Three Gorges Exploration

On your arrival at Chongqing airport or the train station, our guide and driver will be there to meet you in accordance with your schedule and then transfer you to the city area. If time allows, we will take a visit to Ci Qi Kou, which is a folk cultural town with a history of more than 1,000 years, with relatively complete ancient buildings preserved. It is also a hub of Chongqing's street food, where you can try a variety of snacks with different flavors. Then go to the Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, the most prosperous commercial center of Chongqing, to experience the city’s modern part. Based on your time schedule, you may visit both or either of them. And we suggest you have your own dinner before boarding the cruise ship as there is no dinner served on board today.

Then we will transfer you to the wharf to board the 5-star President No.7 or President No.8 cruise ship according to the sailing date. As the ship departs at 22:00, your memorable cruise journey begins.

Today you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy, lying on the sundeck, bathing in the sunshine, feeling the gentle river breeze, enjoying the picturesque scenery, and chatting with your family or friends. This is the core of your Yangtze River Cruise tour. Of course, there are various cultural programs and onshore excursions to fill in your time. The details are on the day-by-day schedule that the cruise company provides for you. If you have any questions, just find the river guide or the staff at the reception.

Today, the included onshore tour is arranged at around 12:30. you will disembark and visit the Mount Shuanggui, which was ratified as a state-level forest park in 1992. Walking in the park, you will be immersed in harmonious surroundings where birds fly over the bubbling stream and through the verdant forest where ancient architecture are hidden among trees and flowers. Then embark again and the cruise continues sailing. This evening, you are invited to join the Captain's Welcome Party at around 20:30.

Today you will come to the highlight of your voyage, the Three Gorges, known as Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. The shortest of these is the Qutang Gorge, where sheer mountains loom up 1,000 to 1,500 meters (3,281 to 4,921 feet) along its course and the turbulent river is narrowed down to a belt of 100 to 200 meters (109 to 219 yards) in width as it pushes its way through the gorge. Wu Gorge is the most brilliant part of the Three Gorges. With a range of graceful hills and rugged cliffs rising along the banks, it looks like a natural gallery of Chinese landscape paintings. Xiling Gorge is the longest of the three, which is known for its tortuous channel, dense reefs and shoaly waters.

When the ship sails to the border between the Wu and Xiling gorges, you will disembark for an interesting junk adventure to the Shennong Stream for three to four hours. The most interesting part is that you will sit on the local special pea boat, and listen to the primitive and beautiful singing of the trackers while enjoying the enchanting scenery along the stream.

Your relaxing cruise vacation will come to the end today after an excursion to the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydro-electric project. You will learn about the dam and the Three Gorges Water Project, and enjoy the beautiful scenery around. Prior to this excursion, please pack your luggage and follow the check-out procedures. Upon completion of the excursion, the cruise company will drive you to the Three Gorges Tourist Center in Yichang city, where our local guide and driver are waiting for you. If time permits, they will take you to visit the Yichang Museum. At the museum, you will gain a deep understanding of the history and culture about the Three Gorges area from the historical items on display. Afterwards, they will take you to Yichang airport or the train station and see you off there.
