Day 1 Shanghai - Zhujiajian Port - Mount Putuo
Fayu Temple in Putuoshan
In the morning, your experienced driver will pick you up from your hotel in downtown Shanghai, and transfer you to Zhujiajian Port, which takes around 3.5 hours on the way. On arrival, you will find your local tour guide waiting outside the port on time and then he/she will accompany you to take a ferry bound for Putuoshan. After disembarking, you will be escorted to check into the well-selected hotel for a short break. Lunch will be at your own expense. There are many good restaurants around the hotel and your guide will be glad to recommend authentic local foods to you.
After lunch, your Mount Putuo tour will start with a short walk to the Puji Temple first. As the largest and oldest temple on the Mount Putuo, it is the site where to hold the most significant religious rituals and activities. Afterwards, we will take a sightseeing bus to the Thousand-Step Beach to enjoy the gorgeous beach view. Lying along the eastern coast of the Putuoshan Mountain, it is the largest beach of the area with super soft sand. Besides, the seashore is also a fantastic place to capture a distant view of the Luojia Mountain, which looks like a giant Buddha lying on the sea.
We will continue the Putuoshan tour package to the Violet Bamboo Grove (Zizhu Lin), the earliest place to build a temple on the mountain. Here you will visit the Unwilling-to-go Guanyin Temple to learn about the legend of the Guanyin statue enshrined inside. Bordering the seashore, the temple is also a wonderful photography site for shutterbugs. Afterwards, we will take a walk to reach the 33-meter (108-foot) high statue of the Guanyin, which is the most iconic spot of the Mount Putuo. Finally, you could choose to walk or take a sightseeing bus back to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day freely.

Day 2 Mount Putuo - Zhujiajian Port - Shanghai
A graceful pavilion in the scenic area
After breakfast, your guide will accompany you to take the sightseeing bus to the Fayu Temple, the second largest temple on the Mount Putuo. The main building of the temple consists of 6 grand halls aligned along the mountain slope. The nine-dragon caisson ceiling is the most eye-catching spot inside the main hall and is regarded as one of the three treasures of Putuo. In the lunch time, you will have meals at your own expense and your guide will be glad to recommend you some nice restaurants nearby.
Next, we will walk up the stairs for around 1.5 hours to the Huiji Temple which is perched at the top of the Mount Putuo. As climbing the stairs requires some physical strength, you could also choose to take the cable car to reach the summit. The price for the cable car is CNY40 for a one-way ride and CNY70 for a round-way trip. You could pay it on the spot.
After touring the Huiji Temple, we will take the sightseeing bus back to the pier and transfer to a ferry to Zhujiajian Port. Your Shanghai driver will wait for you there and drive you back to the hotel.

1. As the ferries might be delayed or cancelled due to severe weather, you are advised not to book the departure flight or train from Shanghai on the same day in case missing it due to the change of the ferry schedule.
2. We will arrange a private car for the round-way transfer between Shanghai and Zhujiajian Port for you, while inside Mount Putuo Scenic Area, you need to take the public sightseeing bus. Please kindly note that you probably need to queue for the sightseeing bus during the public holidays, special religious festivals and weekends. If you don’t want to stand in line, we could also arrange a private vehicle inside the scenic area. Please turn to your travel consultant for details.
3. In addition to the Putuoshan tour from Shanghai, we can also arrange it from Hangzhou or customize a tour of Shanghai-Mount Putuo-Hangzhou. For more itinerary options, please contact your travel consultant freely.
