Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the best-preserved sections of Great Wall in China, with the total length of 5,400 meters (5,900 yards) and 2,250 meters (2,460 yards) open to tourists. Beijing Botanical Garden is the best place to visit in Beijing in April to appreciate tulips. Thousands of tulips in various colors are arranged in beautiful patterns. Apart from the most common single-petal early flowering tulip, tourists can feast their eyes with other types, such as lily-like tulip, peony-like tulip and lotus-like tulip. Located at the foot of Fragrant Hill, Beijing Botanical Garden has other types of flowers in April, such as magnolia. In addition, Cherry Blossom Festival is held here from March to May every year, therefore, one can admire the full blossom cherry flowers as well. Not to mention that the branches in the botanical garden are interspersed with red begonias and yellow forsythias.

With the altitude of 2,302 meters (7,552 feet), Lingshan Mountian is the highest mountain in Beijing. Though the peak of this lofty mountain is capped with snow all year round, the scenery of the lower parts change according to seasons. If you come here in April, you will be impressed with the vast and green alpine meadow, on which azaleas, lilacs, goldflowers and roses are in full blossom. It just looks like a fluffy carpet studded with colorful jewels. White birch forest is another famous attraction in Lingshan Mountain for you to take a walk. On account of its favorable natural environment, this place is also the habitat of sheep, horse and Tibetan yak. Riding a horse here could be another exciting thing to do in Beijing in April.
Famous for old temple, lush pine, grotesque rock and rare flora, Mount Miaofeng Scenic Spot is another recommended place when traveling to Beijing in April. While climbing the mountain, you can smell the sweet scent of lilacs and wild jasmines and enjoy the lush clusters of azalea, daisy, peach flower and shrub. Moreover, there will be a large temple fair here at the end of April or early May every year. Thus, tourists can not only appreciate the natural landscape, but also watch folk art performances and sample local customs.
