Day 1 Beijing - Luoyang
Longmen Grottoes, Luoyang
This 2 days Luoyang tour from Beijing is definitely tailor-made for travelers who love grottoes culture or are obsessed with Chinese Kung Fu. In the early morning, you need to get to Beijing West Railway Station by yourself and take a high speed train to Luoyang, a city located in Henan Province, east-central China. We will book the train tickets for you in advance and offer you the thorough instruction to collect the tickets. After about 4 hours’ train journey, you will arrive at Luoyang Longmen Railway Station where your professional guide will be waiting for you.
The first stop is Longmen Grottoes, one of China's Four Greatest Grottoes, representing the masterpieces of Chinese Buddhism art. It was first built in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386 - 534). And after 500 years' intermittent construction, around 97,000 Buddhist statues were completed. Among them, the carvings along the west side of the river are highlights and visitors can appreciate outstanding workmanship and spectacular statues. Next, we will move to Luoyang city center to visit the Museum of Luoyang Eastern Zhou Royal Horse and Chariot Pits, which is an ancient site of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770 - 256 BC). The most famous relic here is a royal chariot driven by 6 horses unearthed from Pit 5, which could only be taken by the emperor. After the visit, you will be escorted to a nice hotel for a good rest.
We will arrange the second class seats for your Beijing - Luoyang high speed train journey. As it is a relatively long trip, upgrading to the first class seat would be more comfortable. If you need the upgrading service, please contact your travel consultant in advance.

Day 2 Luoyang Exit
Shaolin Temple
Shaolin Temple is the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and the cradle of Chinese Kung Fu. Titled UNESCO's World Cultural & Natural Heritage site in 2010, it is undoubtedly the highlight of this trip. After breakfast, your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at the appointed time. Then we will drive for 2 hours to the Shaolin Temple. Shaolin Temple was first built in the Northern Wei Dynasty but damaged and destroyed because of war several times. The present buildings composed of Hall of Heavenly Kings, Mahavira Hall, Ancestor's Monastery & the Second Ancestor's Monastery were rebuilt in the 20th century. Besides the typical temples with the Chinese Buddhism style, you will have chance to enjoy the fantastic Chinese Kung Fu show.
