Late March is the right time to appreciate cherry blossom as well as multiple other flowers in Tokyo. Cherry blossom festival is celebrated in Ueno Park, Sumida Park along the river banks, and so on. On March 3, Girls’ Day in Japan, people put elegant traditional dolls on display stage to pray for health and happiness for girls, which is worth a look, too. The distinctive round Dharma tumbler is a mascot to pray for good luck. Dharma Tumbler Fair, held on March 3 and 4 at Jindai-ji Temple, is also a grand occasion with about 300 stalls selling the tumblers in different sizes and designs. Visitors can ask monks there to help you paint eyes by Sanskrit calligraphy.
