Tenjin Matsuri is one of the best-known festivals in Osaka, which is usually held on July 24 and 25. Tenmangu Shrine is the main venue, where traditional parades of sedans and boats, as well as magnificent firework show attract a lot of tourists. Osaka’s July is also nice for a food adventure, and Shinsekai centered on Tsutenkaku Tower full of various shops is a great destination for that. On the observation deck of Tsutenkaku Tower, visitors can also overlook the surrounding old downtown area. Tempozan Ferris Wheel is a highlight in Osaka as well, which is welcomed by young lovers and couples. It’s dazzling when lights are on at night, and riders can enjoy the majestic city on it.

Tips

1. Tenjin Matsuri is one of the grandest festivals in Japan, and the celebration spot is filled with countless people. If you want to watch the fireworks from a good perspective, there are special viewing seats, but prior booking is needed.

2. Tempozan Ferris Wheel has two types of carriages, with transparent floor and non-transparent floor. As there are only 4 transparent-floored carriages, one may need to queue up for it, while it is much easier to ride the non-transparent floored carriage.
