Chinese Gender Predictor
Chinese gender predictor or Chinese gender calendar is a chart to predict the sex of the fetus, hence also called Chinese baby calendar and Chinese pregnancy calendar. It was found out by ancient Chinese 700 years ago by calculating yin, yang, the Five Elements, the Eight Diagrams, and time.
The chart consists of two parts. The abscissa is the month of pregnancy from January to December and the ordinate is the age of new mom from 18 to 45 years old.
The month of pregnancy is the month of conception in lunar calendar, not the month of the last menstruation. If she conceives in a leap month, the first half of the month is counted in the previous month and the second half is counted in the next month. If the exact conception date is not clear, calculate it by the last menstruation plus 14 days; if it is after the 25th when the 14 days are added, it should be counted to next month.

The age of the new mom should be calculated by lunar age in the traditional Chinese way: the actual age plus one.
For example, there is a 26-year-old woman, whose lunar age is 27. She conceived in lunar July. According to the chart, she will give birth to a baby boy.
You can select several consecutive months that have the same baby gender to get pergenant, which will increase the probability of the certain gender. For instance, if your lunar age is 29 years old and you want to have a baby boy, based on Chinese baby gender calendar, you can choose to get pregnant between May and September.
Someone says the accuracy rate is as high as 92%. But according to a large-sale survey, the accuracy rate of the Gender Calculator is only 50%.
In fact, the sex of the fetus is not determined by any prediction chart, which is realized only by the free combination of genes. The new moms and dads should rely on scientific ways to know the gender of your baby.
It is said that Gender Predictor was enshrined in the imperial court of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and it was kept by special eunuchs, so it could not be seen easily. In the end of the Qing Dynasty, the chart was taken to Britain. A scholar in China managed to copy it. In 1972, the owner of the chart made it public. Due to the long history, the authenticity of the origin cannot be investigated.
There is another way called cardinal number calculation method. It takes 49 as the base, plus the lunar month of conception, minus the lunar age at conception. If the result is an odd number, it should be a boy; otherwise it is a girl. For example, someone is 31 lunar years old and got pregnant in lunar January, 49+1-31=19, so she should be conceiving a baby boy.
