How to Get to Badaling Great Wall

 Location: Yanqing District of suburban Beijing
 Distance from Downtown: 70 kilometers (43 miles)
 Single Journey Time: 1 - 1.5 hours
 Opening Hours: 7:30 - 16:00

To Badaling Great Wall, buses and high-speed train are available. If living near subway stations, then the high-speed train will be the best choice. If you live near Deshengmen, then taking the nonstop bus 877 is convenient. The direct tourist bus from Qianmen is also a choice.

By bus: Take bus no. 521, 623 or Zhuan 139 to West Square of Qinghe Railway Station.
 To Beijing North:
By subway: Take subway line 2, line 4 or line 13 to Xizhimen.
By bus: Take bus 145, 375, 438 or 632 and get off at Beijing North Railway Station
 Tip: From Badaling Great Wall Railway Station, walk southwestward for about 500 meters (547 yards) to the ticket office of the Great Wall.
 Bus line 877 is also an alternative way, which departs from Deshengmen to Badaling directly with no stop.

Where can I take the bus 877? - Bus Station behind Deshengmen Arrow Tower.
1. Take subway line 2 to Jishuitan Subway Station, exit from B2, and go east for about 500 meters (547 yards).
2. Bus line 5, 27, 55, 135, 143, 380, 409, 625, 872, Zhuan 51, Sightseeing Line 3 or 919 are available to reach Deshengmen Bus Stop.
 Tips: There are always a lot of people standing in line to wait for the bus 877, and nobody convinces you to board. One can pay by cash or transportation card. If you pay by Transportation Smart Card, you can enjoy 50% off.
  Route: Qianmen ⇔ Badaling  
 Boarding Point:
From Qianmen: Southwest of Qianmen Arrow Tower, to the south of Tiananmen Square
From Badaling Great Wall: Badaling Guntiangou Parking Lot near the entrance
 Single Journey Time: 90 minutes for a single trip
 Ticket Fare: CNY 50 for Qianmen - Badaling single trip; CNY80 for a round trip; transportation card is not applicable.
 How to buy a ticket: Passengers can buy it in cash from the conductor after getting on the bus.
 Operating Time: 6:30 - 11:00 from Qianmen; 11:00 - 16:00 from Badaling Great Wall; depart when all seats are filled

How can I go to Qianmen Bus Station
1. Take subway line 2 to Qianmen subway station, exit from C and go south for about 300 meters (330 yards).
2. Bus Station is located to the southwest of Qianmen Arrow Tower in the south of Tiananmen Square. Bus line 8, 22, 67, 82, 137, 599, 332 and sightseeing line 2 run to Qianmen Bus Station.
  Tip: The buses also run directly to Badaling. When returning, one can get off at either Deshengmen or Qianmen.
 Bus 919 does not run on the expressway and has many stops on the way. But if you leave the Great Wall after 16:30 when bus 877 may have left, you can take bus 919 to get back. 
 Route: Deshengmen ⇔ Badaling
 Schedule from Deshengmen: 5:45 - 19:00 (From 7:30 - 15:00, the bus will stop at Juyong Pass of Great Wall)
 Schedule from Badaling: around 6:00 - 19:30
 Single Journey Time: 2.5 hours
 Ticket Fare: CNY13
 Drop-off point: Badaling Station, 1.6 km (1.0 mi) from the entrance.  

After getting off bus 919, passengers can walk eastward to Badaling Wildlife Park to take the free shuttle bus to the main entrance of Badaling Great Wall, totally three stations.

 Tip:
1. There are two 919 branch lines called 919 Kuai (919 Express) and 919 Shuttle Bus which do not pass by Badaling Great Wall. If you are going to take it, please double confirm with the driver before boarding.
2. For the return trip, passengers can take the free shuttle bus to Badaling Wildlife Park, then walk westward to the Badaling bus station of 919.

How to get to Badaling Great Wall By Train
 1. It may not be difficult to take a taxi from downtown Beijing to Badaling. But the taxis are not metered and usually cost around CNY600 for a single trip. If taking a taxi, you'd better confirm the price with the driver in advance.
2. It is especially difficult to hire a taxi back to downtown. So there are a lot of unofficial taxis. Be alert to avoid being blackmailed or left halfway.
3. You can book a private car with a driver if there are 3 or 4 people. The car holding up 4 passengers requires CNY700 - 1,000 for a round trip.  

Ming Tombs is a collection of mausoleums of Chinese emperors of Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644 AD). It is 30 kilometers (18.5 miles) from Badaling and is suitable for visiting together with Badaling Great Wall. After visiting Badaling, you can take bus 879 to reach Ming Tombs.
 1. Take Airport Express to Dongzhimen and change to subway line 2 to Jishuitan, exit from B2 and then walk for about 500 meters (550 yards) eastward to Deshengmen to take bus line 877.
2. Take Airport Express to Xizhimen and walk to Beijing North Railway Station. Then take a high speed train to Badaling. 
3. Take Airport Express and transfer to line 13 at Dongzhimen, get off at Qinghe Railway Station to take a high-speed train to Badaling.
 1. Take bus line 143 to Deshengmen to take bus line 877.
2. Take subway line 9 to National Library, transfer to line 4 to Xizhimen. Transfer to Line 13 to Qinghe and take a high-speed train to Badaling.
3. Take subway line 9 to National Library Station and change to Subway Line 4 to Xizhimen Station. Then walk to Beijing North Railway Station and take a high speed train.
 1. Take subway line 4 to Xuanwumen and change to line 2 to Jishuitan, and then take bus line 877.
2. Take subway line 4 to Xizhimen Station and transfer to line 13 to Qinghe. Then take a high-speed train.
3. Take subway line 4 to Xizhimen Station. Then walk to Beijing North Railway Station and take a high speed train.
 1. Take subway line 2 to Jishuitan to take bus line 877.
2. Take subway line 2 to Xizhimen Station and transfer to line 13 to Qinghe. Then take a high-speed train.
