Beijing in Focus

Beijing, the capital city of China, has always been a must for foreign visitors. To schedule your Beijing tour from Oslo, Norway, you need to select suitable cities to make connecting flights as there is no direct flight between the two cities. Here we offer the following proposals for you to consider. You can take Scandinavian Airlines flight SK496 1405/1500 from Oslo to Stockholm first, make a stop there for 4 hours, and then transit to the Air China flight CA912 1910/0945+1 to Beijing. The total time you need for the above journey is about 13 hours & 40 minutes. Alternatively, you may take Russian Airlines flight SU2175 1310/1645 to Moscow, have a 4 hours & 50 minutes layover, and then connect to the flight SU204 2135/0950+1. For this option, the total flight journey will be 14 hours & 40 minutes. In addition, you can also make the transit in Helsinki, Istanbul, Paris or Frankfort.

After breakfast the guide will meet you in the lobby area. The first stop for your China student group tour from Norway is the famous Tiananmen Square, where you can stroll around and take photos of the attractions on and around it. The Flag Raising Ceremony on the square is well worth a visit so if you are interested, please sign up for it with the guide on the previous day. The guide will accompany you to the square in the early morning. The ceremony is held at sunrise and tens of thousands of people come to watch it every day, so you will have to get up very early. The Forbidden City is the second of today's visits; it is separated from Tiananmen Square by Chang'an Street. Here you can feast your eyes on the splendid royal architectural complex. After the visit, you will have lunch at a local restaurant, and then be taken to visit the Military Museum and Temple of Heaven in the afternoon.

Beijing Zoo is your first stop for today. As it is very large, the guide will first take you to visit the Giant Panda Hall. Then you will attend a short lecture about the Peking Opera in the Peking Opera School. In the morning, the local students will be practicing, so you will have the opportunity to talk to them, you could even ask them to teach you some simple techniques after the lecture.

Thereafter, you will have lunch at a nice local restaurant, and then be transferred to the Summer Palace. On the way, the guide will teach you some simple greetings of Chinese language, for instance, nǐ hǎo (Hello), nǐ duō dà le (How old are you?), nǐ jiào shén me (What is your name?), wǒ lái zì nǎ li (I'm from…). Usually, there are many local people practicing calligraphy on the ground in the Summer Palace. You can watch, learn and take some photos of them, and even have a try yourself.
