Great Wall of China Weather in April

Great Wall of China in April is pleasant with warm and generally sunny climate. The average temperature is 5~18℃ (41~64℉). As a month in Spring, the temperature difference between day and night is a little bit large. Adding a jacket in night time is a wise choice. Sometimes, windy and dust days occur. 

Considering the Great Wall of China weather in April, this month is a good time for a visit. Badaling, Mutianyu, Juyongguan and Simatai in Beijing, or other sections such as Jiayuguan in Gansu and Shanhaiguan in Hebei are popular sections to tour around. Most of these scenic areas are full of life again, surrounded by greens dotted with wild flowers. 
  You can bring thin overcoats and jackets, basketball jackets, long-sleeved shirts, pants, sneakers and hiking shoes when travelling Great Wall of China April. However, it is still advised to bring one or two pieces of cotton wadded jackets to cope with cool night weather.  Hiking along Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall in April is strongly recommended. When hiking, you can fully enjoy the scenery of Spring season. The warmer and comfortable weather also ensure a comfortable trip. 

Divided into North Part and South Part, Badaling Great Wall is the most complete and best-preserved section. If you have enough sightseeing time, hiking both North and South Parts is a worth thing for a trip to Badaling Great Wall in April. The North Part includes 12 watchtowers, and one stone stele engraved with ‘He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man’. As for the South Part, there would be fewer tourists, thus you can tour around at a leisurely pace.

Located around 65 kilometers (40 miles) away from Beijing downtown, Mutianyu Great Wall has three popular hiking routes. The most popular one is as follow: Start off from the North Entrance, hike up to No.10 or No.8 Watchtower. Or you can choose to enter through the South Entrance, then get to No.8 or No. 6 Watchtower (Zhengguan Terrace) 
  You should be aware of pollen allergy during the travel to the Great Wall of China in April. Many kinds of flowers are in full blossom in this time. Wearing a mask and preparing some medicines are needed.

Qingming Festival falls on April 4th or 5th. If you have travel plans on these days, you are advised to arrange accommodation and book train/flights tickets in advance in order to make the trip smooth. If possible, arrive at scenic areas early in the morning. 

It is advised to prepare some chocolates and snacks to replenish energy during the hiking. Besides, taking cable cars or slide way is a nice way to save energy.
