My name is Kevin Chen and I was born in 1981 in Gongcheng Yao Minority Autonomous County, Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. I graduated from Guangxi Teacher’s University and became a full time tour guide since 2006. From an inexperienced traveler to an experienced tour guide, in 6 years tour-guiding and traveling in other parts of the world, I have been gradually improving my guiding skills and expanding my knowledge base on continuous study and communication with clients from all over the world.

I am a freelancer local guide and I have traveled in most of the domestic tourist cities in China and to some countries as like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Australia, India, Nepal, Switzerland and South Africa. I have guided tourists that were from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, India, Israel, New-Zealand, Germany, Italy, and Spain. I have guided some tours as a national guide in China and operated a couple of outbound tours as well. From these experiences, I have trained myself to be a more thoughtful and responsible guide, and a reliable representative of the travel agency. With my guiding & traveling experiences, I will offer you barrier–free communications and am able to get along with the people that come from different cultural backgrounds. I was born in the countryside, from a country-boy to a grown up city man, hopefully my growing with the development of China can present you an overall picture of Guilin. As I am from a minority autonomous county, where I have seen how do they live and celebrate their unique folk life, I believed that my understanding of minority culture and folk life will help you know more details about the minority tribes in this region.

What are the crucial factors to become a professional guide? Language, knowledge, guiding skills among which I believe sincerity is the corner stone of all kinds of relationship. With genuine attitude I am ready to serve my clients with all my pride of local natural beauty, honor of being a local tour guide, and an opportunity to excel in this job. I fully understand tourists come to visit because they have heard of Guilin or were told about Guilin. Most visitors want to come to see the beauty and feel the atmosphere, maybe with their family or friends, or even sharing the experience with people they don’t know. All I try to do is to make sure they enjoy their visit safely and are happily with no disappointment at all. As an old Chinese Confucius saying goes: How happy we are, to meet friends from afar.
