Current 15-Day & Upcoming 30-Day Visa Free Entry

From December 1, 2023 to end of 2025, holders of ordinary passports from Spain who go to China Mainland for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends and transiting for no more than 15 days, are allowed to enter China without applying for a visa. From Nov. 30, 2024, the visa free duration of stay will be extended to 30 days and exchange visits will be included in the purpose list.

Diplomatic passport holders of Spain enjoy 30-day visa-free entry. However, those who hold official or service passports should still apply for China Visas.

If staying for more than 30 days, ordinary passport holders are requested to apply for a visa at the CVASC in Madrid or Barcelona.

 Spanish nationals enjoy a visa-free entry to Hong Kong and Macau can stay for less than 90 days.

Attention Points for the Visa Exemption

1. The visa-free entry policy applies to all open sea, land, and airports in China to Spanish citizens.
 
2. Visitors are advised to take relevant documents, such as an invitation letter, airline tickets, a letter confirming a hotel reservation, etc., that can be proof of their purpose to China and help to go through the Chinese Immigration Inspection.
 
3. Travel documents, emergency, and temporary documents are all not eligible for the visa free policy.
 
4. Spanish people can enter China from any other country.
 
5. No limits on the total days of stay and visitors can enter China multiple times.
 
6. If you need to stay in China for longer than 15 days, you must apply for a temporary stay from the Chinese exit & entry administration of the public security departments before the 15-day stay permit expires.

Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Madrid

Ordinary passport holders should go to the  CVASC for application. The Consular Office of the embassy won't accept applications from ordinary passport holders. However, applicants of diplomatic/official/service passport holders shall still submit the application directly to the embassy.
