Notice about Legalization at the Chinese Embassy

On 8 March 2023, China acceded to the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, which entered into force in Nov. 7, 2023.

From 7 November 2023, if you want to use some papers and documents as referred to in the Convention from Jamaica, Belize or Cayman Island in the Chinese Mainland, you may only have to apostille the papers and documents instead of applying for legalization by Chinese Embassy in Jamaica.

Notice about Application for Notarization

Chinese citizens want to use the public documents as referred to in the Convention in Jamaica, Belize or Cayman Island don't need to apply for the legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and Jamaican or UK Embassy and Consulates in China. Instead, they should get their documents apostilled.

Please contact Embassy of Jamaica in China if Jamaicans are in problems there.
