It is the third smallest country in Europe, just larger than Vatican and Monaco. Lying along the Apennine Mountains, San Marino is also a mountainous country relatively the highest point of which is 755 meters (2,477 feet).
Climate
This region is controlled by the subtropical Mediterranean climate with the highest temperature of 30℃ (86℉) in the hot and dry summer as well as the lowest temperature of -2℃ (28.4℉) in the mild and rainy winter. Although every March till to September is said to be the hot tourism season to San Marino, the best time should be April to June due to the sunny days dotted by blooming flowers. On the other hand, it is also a wise choice to avoid the tourism flood from Italy in the following two months.
Politics
San Marino takes the unicameral parliament, so called the Consiglio Grande e Generale, consisting of 60 members elected every five years. The heads of the state are the two Captains Regents who are elected by the Consiglio Grande e Genrale every half a year and enjoy equal rights.
Economy
The country lacks of natural resources but has developed tourism industry which contributes over 30% to its GNP. Its exquisite stamps, unique post services and worthy collecting old coins attract a great number of travelers all the time. The agricultural products mainly are grape, olive, wheat and corn but still needs importation.
