Located in the southeast of West Africa, the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with an approximate population of 140 million. It covers an area of 923,768 square kilometers. It is a multinational country with over 250 ethnic groups. Initially the capital was Lagos, and then it was moved and reappointed the inland city Abuja as the capital in Dec 1991.
Nigeria is an ancient country in Africa. Nok culture makes it the cultural cradle of Africa. On October 1, 1960, the Federation of Nigeria achieved independence, initially as a constitutional monarchy. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was adopted on October 1, 1963. At the same time, it became a member of the Commonwealth.
Nigeria is the largest petroleum producer in Africa and one of the members of OPEC. Its leading industry was original agriculture at the outset of independence, however, as more petroleum is exploited, petroleum gradually takes the first place in its economy. Almost 95 percent of foreign exchange income is contributed by petroleum. Natural gases and coal are also richly stored in this country.
The bilateral relationship:
From February 10, 1971 when the bilateral relations were set up between Nigeria and China,
Exchanges and cooperation have been in smooth water. Great achievements have been made in the exploitation of oil, gas, the construction of basic facilities, the mutual efforts in agriculture and hi-technology. It has been the important trading partner in Africa. They are facing a brighter future.
The festivals:
