 The economy of Mauritania:
Mauritania mainly relies on its stockbreeding and mining industry to develop itself. However, the quantities of the production is not adequately enough to feed themselves well, confined by its geographical character, so the import for other necessities is a must.

In the past years, a series of policies have been carried out to stimulate its economy, such as the implementation of the preferential policy to attract foreign investment. In general, its economy improves step by step. In spite of over 50 percent of population still suffers from poverty, all Mauritanians have been benefited from the improved economy.

 The history of Mauritania
It is shown by the archeological study that the origin of Mauritania can be traced back to the Old Stone Age. During the 1st century AD, the nomad called Boboer resided in the north of Mauritania. In the meantime, there were blacks who settled themselves down along the river of Senegal.

From 1913 to 1920, Mauritania was protected by France; then it was monopolized by France in 1920; and last it was totally occupied by France as its overseas territory in 1946. On Nov 28, 1960, Mauritania finally gained its independence and Nouakchott boasted itself as the youngest capital in Africa in this desert.
