Bilateral Relationship between Maldives and China:
As early as the Ming Dynasty of China, the Chinese trade mission led by Zheng He had reached Maldives for two times. Maldives dispatched ambassadors to China for three times as well.

In Chinese historical data exists plenty of information relating to the geography, climate, products, customs and many other aspects of Maldives. Also the Chinese ancient porcelain and coins were found. It reflects the trade communication between the two countries of the ancient times very well.

However, because of the imperialist aggression, China intermitted relations with the country for a few centuries. In the early 1960s, Chinese ambassadors to Sri Lanka started visiting each other. On October 14, 1972, the two countries established diplomatic relations, and Chinese ambassador to Sri Lanka was concurrently accredited to Maldives.

 Transportation
The capital airport and tourist hotels are all located on the separate islands. Boats are the major transportation means. Please be careful in the boat. In its capital, there are more automobiles. Among those, motorcycles are in the majority. There are no direct fights between China and Maldives. Visit by air, you should transfer to another airport in the third place.

Please contact China Embassy in Maldives if this country's citizens will go to China.
